FAQ
Lummo Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. About Our Products & Scents
What are Lummo candles made of?
Our candles are carefully hand-poured using a premium, sustainable Natural Wax Blend (e.g., Soy/Coconut Wax). We use 100% pure essential oils and high-quality fragrance oils for our scents, and they are finished with lead-free, organic cotton wicks.
Are your fragrances safe?
Yes, absolutely. We prioritize your well-being. All our fragrance oils are Phthalate-Free and free from carcinogens and other harmful toxins. We intentionally blend our scents with pure essential oils to maximize genuine aromatherapy benefits.
How strong is the scent throw (fragrance)?
We formulate our candles to provide a beautiful and balanced fragrance throw that fills a standard room without being overwhelming. Scent intensity can vary based on the scent profile, room size, and ceiling height. For best results in larger, open-plan areas, we recommend using two Lummo candles simultaneously.
Why does my candle sometimes look "sweaty" or have white patches?
This is called "sweating" or "frosting" and is a completely natural characteristic of natural waxes like soy, especially if they experience temperature fluctuations. It does not affect the quality, burn time, or scent of your candle.
2. Candle Care & Safety
How long should I burn my candle for the first time? (Preventing Tunneling)
The first burn is the most important. You must let the melted wax pool reach the entire edge of the container. This usually takes 2–4 hours. This creates a "burn memory" that prevents "tunneling" (when wax is left unused on the sides of the jar).
How often should I trim the wick?
Please trim your wick to ¼ inch (6mm) before every single burn. A properly trimmed wick ensures a clean burn, prevents excessive soot, and controls the flame height. If you notice a "mushroom" shape forming on the wick, it's too long!
How long should I burn my candle at a time?
We recommend burning your Lummo candle for a maximum of 3–4 hours at a time. Burning for longer than four hours can cause the container to overheat and the wick to mushroom, leading to excessive soot.
There is black soot on the inside of the jar. What should I do?
Soot is usually a sign that your wick is too long, or the candle is sitting in a draft.
Extinguish the candle.
Let the wax cool and solidify.
Trim the wick to ¼ inch.
Move the candle to a draft-free area for your next burn.
Is it safe to burn the candle all the way to the bottom?
No. Always stop burning your candle when only about ½ inch of wax remains at the bottom. Continuing to burn past this point can cause the jar to overheat and crack.
